This demanding stretch has been the scene of memorable incidents and demand precision from the drivers. In 2023, during qualifying, Aston Martin's Lance Stroll had a dramatic crash, hitting the barriers hard after running over the kerbs at the final turn. One year later, Carlos Sainz had a similar crash, slamming his Ferrari against the wall at the final corner in Q3, bringing out the red flag.

In 2026, after starting at P2 for F1 Sprint, Mercedes’ George Russell made a stellar start to overtake Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, but applied power too early at Turn 19 and drifted onto the kerbs before spinning out of control and into the barriers.
