Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix to deliver even more competitive racing in 2026 with debut of F1 Sprint

16 September 2025, Singapore – Fans at the Marina Bay Street Circuit can look forward to more thrilling battles on the track over the three days at next year’s edition of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, with the nation's first ever F1 Sprint.

“We are thrilled to be one of six circuits to host the F1 Sprint next year. We’ve already seen new Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix winners each year since 2022, and with new regulations, a new team joining the grid, as well as the F1 Sprint, fans can look forward to even more competitive racing as the drivers go all-out on all three event days,” says Jonathan Hallett, Director, Singapore GP Pte Ltd.

Held from 9 to 11 October 2026, the sprint format injects extra excitement into the weekend, delivering fast-paced, high-stakes racing on Friday and Saturday that complements the main Formula 1 race on Sunday.

Introduced in 2021, the Sprint races have delivered plenty of fierce wheel-to-wheel action – including a memorable win for seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton earlier this season, marking his first victory in red and the first ever Sprint victory for Scuderia Ferrari HP.

Fans will expect more high-speed action, and intensified racing with more points at stake over a Sprint weekend. The Free Practice 2 (FP2) session on Friday will be replaced by a Sprint Qualifying session. This will set the grid for a Sprint race on Saturday, replacing Free Practice 3 (FP3), followed by the F1 Qualifying session for the Grand Prix later in the evening. The Formula 1 main race takes place as usual on Sunday, capping off the weekend.

With reduced Free Practice sessions, teams are pressured to get the set-up right from the start. As there are more points up for grabs, each session carries significance – whether it's for championship points or grid position – giving fans even greater value on all three days.

Tickets will be released in phases soon, limited to select ticket categories only.
