Top marques and drivers on show in TSS Super Series support race

29 September 2022, Singapore - Some of the world’s most exclusive sportscar marques are set to battle it out for bragging rights on Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend, with TSS The Super Series – Thailand’s biggest domestic racing series – joining the bill at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022.

The FIA-inscribed series, which is racing in Singapore for the first time, features an exotic mix of supercars – combining three classes, GT3, GTM and GTC, in one – including the likes of Toyota, Lexus, Audi, Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-AMG, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Ford Mustang.

The series, which is an emerging force on the global stage, ensures close wheel-to-wheel racing using a “balance of power” matrix that takes into account each car’s weight, and engine reference data. And it will be flat-out from the opening lap with no championship points on offer.

Singapore will host two invitational races, which features a glittering field of 27 drivers from all over the world, including Singapore, Thailand, the Netherlands, Australia, USA, New Zealand, France, Hong Kong SAR, Canada, and Malaysia. All keen to make their mark on the world-famous grand prix stage.

Singaporean Yuey Tan will no doubt lead the challenge for SLK Racing in his Porsche 991 GT3R, drawing on his experience pounding out the laps at Marina Bay previously for the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Tan will likely go wheel-to-wheel with another top gun, two-time Bathurst 12 Hour and Macau winner, Darryl O’ Young, in his Mercedes Benz AMG GT3. The Hong Kong combatant is no stranger to racing on street tracks, having won all eight races at the opening round in Bangsaen, Thailand.

Singapore this weekend is the third stop of a five-round 2022 calendar, and the series is excited to be racing in Asia’s glamorous city-state, with spectators sure to be impressed with the cars and stars on-track.

“In the past decade, we have been through many obstacles. And all of them are challenges that we must go through. It brought us to a higher level, and that is why we are here now,” said series director Preeda Tantemsapya.
