Kantasak Kusuri stuns with Sunday’s TSS The Super Series’ Singapore win

2 October 2022, Singapore – Thai racing driver Kantasak Kusiri has made a stunning comeback on Sunday at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, with Friday’s polesitter finally taking a win in TSS The Super Series’ second race.

Kusiri, racing for YK Motorsports Billionaire Boy by Sunoco, started second on the grid and kept his head into Turn 1 with the top five jostling in furious fashion across the opening few laps. He snatched the lead from the winner of the first race Andrew Haryanto with 16 minutes left on the clock down the back straight and never looked back.

Australian driver Yasser Shahin and Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute teammate Haryanto closed out the podium positions in identical Audi R8 GT3 Evo IIs, all three in the series’ super-competitive GT3 class.

Darryl O’Young, in his Craft-Bamboo Racing-run Mercedes Benz AMG GT3 could only manage fourth, despite challenging for the lead in Saturday’s opening race. The Hong Kong SAR driver proved to be competitive all weekend.

Singaporean Yuey Tan, in his SLK Racing Porsche 991 GT3R impressed with fifth, moving up from where he started in seventh. It was a huge improvement on his opening performance, when he finished down in 14th after smacking the Turn 15 barrier that dropped him to the back of the field.

Thai driver Tanart Sathienthirakul again topped the GTM class, this time coming home in seventh place, just 0.4sec behind Indonesian Anderson Tanoto He in his Absolute Racing Audi GT4.

French driver Romain Stephane Pierre Leroux was again the class-leader in GTC, finishing where he started in 15th overall.
