‘Rev Up Singapore!’ campaign a huge hit with Singaporeans
2 September 2013, Singapore – With 20 days to the 2013 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, Singaporeans have reacted enthusiastically to race organiser Singapore GP’s ‘Rev Up Singapore!’ campaign. Ballots for the Thursday Pit Lane Experience and RUSH preview screenings which ended on 22 August received an overwhelming number of entries. Registration for the upcoming FORMULA 1.101 Innovation Talk is almost full, and over 13,000 attendees visited the ITE College Central where Singapore GP held the Rev Up Singapore! Motorsports Carnival from 25 to 26 August.
The ‘Rev Up Singapore!’ campaign was launched three months ago to share the excitement of Formula One™ across the island. Fan-friendly initiatives include a Thursday Pit Lane Walk, free preview screenings of the RUSH movie, a Rev Up Singapore! Motorsports Carnival at the ITE College Central, a FORMULA 1.101 Innovation Talk for tertiary institutions, and the Singapore GP School Visit to 15 secondary schools.
Thursday Pit Lane Experience
The ballot for 2,500 coveted tickets to the first ever Thursday Pit Lane Experience attracted a staggering 17,448 registrants. Participants will be able to get a first-hand view of the Formula One™ team garages at the Pit Building a day ahead of the Circuit Park’s opening on 19 September as well as enjoy the entertainment offerings and interactive games in Zone 1 of the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
RUSH free preview screenings
The ballot for 1,500 complimentary tickets to preview screenings of RUSH attracted a total of 3,678 entries. The movie RUSH is based on a true story about the epic rivalry between legendary Formula One™ drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl respectively. Successful balloters will be able to catch the film on 18 September at their preferred Cathay cinema (AMK Hub, The Cathay, Cathay Cineleisure, Downtown East and Causeway Point) before it opens in theatres island-wide.
Ballot winners of the Thursday Pit Lane Experience and RUSH preview screenings will be notified shortly.
Rev Up Singapore! Motorsports Carnival
Over 13,000 students, parents and members of the public visited the ITE College Central where Singapore GP held the very first Rev Up Singapore! Motorsports Carnival from 25 to 26 August. Admittance to the carnival was free and visitors took part in a variety of speed-themed games such as race simulators, go-kart racing, tyre obstacle course, remote-controlled racing, and more.
A lucky draw conducted hourly saw 14 participants walk away with a pair of three-day Zone 4 Walkabout tickets worth S$456, while two lucky winners bagged a pair of three-day Pit Grandstand tickets worth S$2,576.

More than 530 students have signed up for the FORMULA 1.101 Innovation Talk held at the Nanyang Technological University on 18 September. Conducted by key engineers from McLaren, Sauber and Pirelli, the talks will cover topics such as engineering a Formula One™ car, design principles, aerodynamics, tyre and engine technologies.
Each speaker's presentation will be followed by a short question and answer session with an opportunity to win 2013 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX tickets and race merchandise. This exclusive event is only open to students who are currently enrolled in a local tertiary institution.
Very limited seats remain at this complimentary event. Interested students can sign up for the talk on www.singaporegp.sg/revupsingapore. The ballot closes on 4 September.

Singapore GP School Visit
Singapore GP is on target to reach out to over 14,000 secondary school students as part of the extremely successful Singapore GP School Visit programme. Over 12 schools have benefited from the programme, and another three schools are in the pipeline.
As part of the itinerary, students gained an interesting insight into the world of Formula One™ through an educational talk hosted by local motorsports journalist Cheryl Tay, as well as interactive game stations and a photography exhibition that relived five years of night racing.
A Q&A session after the talk also provided opportunities for students to win attractive prizes such as race tickets and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
On this guided tour through Zone 1, students will obtain a first-hand look into the Paddock, team garages and hospitality homes, F1 Village, and even restricted areas like the race control, podium and commentary booths.
Participating schools include Ngee Ann Secondary, Woodlands Secondary, Coral Secondary, Ping Yi Secondary, CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh), Boon Lay Secondary, North View Secondary, Outram Secondary, Yuhua Secondary, Dunman Secondary, Pei Hwa Secondary, Montfort Secondary, Crescent Girls' School, Northbrooks Secondary, and Bedok Town Secondary.
