ESTABLISHMENT OF TEMPORARY RESTRICTED AREA DURING 2016 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will establish a temporary Restricted Area under the Air Navigation Order (ANO) as shown in the map at Annex A from ground level to 4,000 feet above mean sea level during the following dates and timings:

  • 15 September 2016, from 1430 hrs to 2230 hrs;
  • 16 September 2016, from 1700 hrs to 2345 hrs;
  • From 17 September 2016, 1500 hrs to 18 September 2016, 0100 hrs; and
  • 18 September 2016, from 1830 hrs to 2245 hrs

This is for low level helicopter flights conducting aerial filming of the 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.

During the stated dates and timings, unless authorised by the CAAS, the conduct of aerial activities (such as flying of unmanned aircraft, release of sky lanterns, kite-flying and hoisting of captive balloons) is not allowed within and into the temporary Restricted Area, as they may endanger the operations of the low-flying helicopter as well as people and property on the ground.

Unauthorised conduct of aerial activities within and into a temporary Restricted Area is an offence under the ANO. If convicted, a person in the first instance can be fined up to S$20,000 and in subsequent instances up to S$40,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 15 months.

Information on the temporary Restricted Area to be established during the 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is also available on www.singaporegp.sg and www.caas.gov.sg.
